Art in the Afternoon Online - Grade 5
Art in the Afternoon Online is a downsized version of the award-winning Arts Attack Online visual art curriculum. It is designed for those after school programs that do not have the time available to teach a full year’s curriculum, but wish to implement a cost-effective easy-to-teach, high-quality art program as an enrichment activity during the time that they do have available.
The Art in the Afternoon Online Grade 5 program provides an age-appropriate balanced approach to teaching art – emphasizing both the fundamentals of art and creative expression. Taught to the right side of the brain, it emphasizes the art elements and principles, drawing technique, self-expression, artist appreciation, art history, multi-cultural art, and media diversity. Many of the lessons connect to American artists and/or US history. The lessons Northwest Coast Indian Art, Chinese Dragons and The Mola expose students to the art of several other cultures. Lessons on Clipper Ships, The Statue of Liberty, and the Limners all deal with periods in American History. Right brain (contour) drawing skills continue to be developed and emphasized. Students study and learn the styles of the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe and the Limners and then create original artworks in their styles.
The Grade 5 program includes 12 lessons, 3.9 hours of instructional video (shown to the students and featuring classroom demonstrations by other fifth graders), a digital art image program with discussion guides, lesson plans, student drawing aids, teacher reference materials and much more. Being video-based, it can be taught by teachers or parents with little or no art or art education background, as well as by those with considerable art education training – achieving exceptional results in both cases.
As shown below, the per school pricing of Art in the Afternoon Online Grade 5 varies depending on the number of classrooms that will be using the program. Pricing for up to 3 Grade 5 classrooms per school or after school program is shown below. If your school or program has more than 3 Grade 5 classrooms, please contact us for a quote tailored to your specific requirements.
